So, the holiday season completely kicked my ass again this year. Before last night, my last decent workout on the iron was back on December 15. After that, it was completely downhill for 6 weeks. I had a half-hearted attempt on December 29, but I felt completely decimated. I knew I should be able to pull the bar with effort, but every attempt was a struggle.
I guess I hoped things would be different this year, but no. Somehow, with all the weight pressing down on my mind, there was little strength left over for iron. Plates I was physically capable of lifting were no longer liftable.
Anyway, last night there was a breakthrough and Despite the long absence from training there seems to be no major strength loss (although at the high end it feels heavier than I remember).
My weight is still up/down/up/down though… It’s tough being active in the winter. Can’t wait for the lunchtime walks and evening bike rides to resume.
