  • Virtual Desktops in KDE

Linux OS desktops have had Virtual Workspaces since long before Windows or MacOS—just one of the reasons I’ve been a full time Linux user for the last 6 years, with no temptation to switch back.  Here’s a video demonstrating Novell’s openSUSE Linux, which is what I’m running on my main desktop at the moment.

  • Is It Windows 7 or KDE 4?

People are bowled over by Linux with the new KDE 4 desktop, believing that they’re looking at Windows 7. (I’ve been using Linux with a KDE desktop since early 2005).

  • Awards Matter

Source: woodleywonderworks Later today I’ll be attending the Government of Canada’s Wiki Community of Practice group to network with peers, learn from them, and try to recognize a few of them in my own way.  Specifically, I’ll be handing out the first “Gnomies”—GCPEDIA 1K Club Award statuettes recognizing 1,000 edits to the wiki. • A Typical Day at the Post Office?

    You. Must. Watch. This.

  • Last.fm Fail Page

I’ve been on last.fm since late 2006 and don’t recall ever getting a failpage before: Hopefully it’s a good sign: of increasing popularity, and not just inadequate infrastructure due to declining revenues and diminishing paid subscriber base.

  • ONLY YOU Can Prevent Edit Wars

Recently, I resolved an edit war on GCPEDIA.  Well, that’s a bit of an overstatement I suppose.  I intervened in a situation where a couple of users were beginning to revert each others’ edits and exchange words via the edit history comments.  I smelled smoke, then stomped out the sparks before any serious fire could…
